I’ve owned the All Clad slow cooker and the Rival Crock Pot. The All Clad’s computer circuit went out after one year. The Rival Crock Pot always cooked too hot, even on the warm cycle. The Hamilton Beach is the best I’ve had and is reasonably priced at about $50+. The All Clad cost me over $150 for one year of use. The Hamilton Beach seems to cook everything just fine. The lid, which is held down by clips on each side, eliminates any evaporation. The reviewers who said that their food was not cooked probably did not set the program correctly. It does require a few more steps than other brands. You must read the instructions before you begin cooking. Otherwise, you may miss a step. For the price, size, convenience I highly recommend this slow cooker.

This is a crock pot for the 21st century. I have owned many over the past 15yrs, and their quality has dwindled. The last programmable I purchased from Sears and it won’t cook a pot of pinto beans in 24hrs. This unit I immediately put it to the test and same beans on high cooked in 4hrs. The probe feature is sweet too. I would recommend this to the working people who simply don’t have time to monitor cooking. Consumer Reports rates this unit very high as well. After our last “slow” cooker burned our food (on low), we decided to look for a new one. I read many reviews and then decided to give this one a try. I am so glad I did! It actually cooks the food at a low temperature. I was worried it would be difficult to program, but the instructions are quite easy to follow. I like the way the lid can be clamped down for travel. I wish that it had more advanced programming, such as “cook on high for 90 minutes then switch to low” but that was not a deal-breaker. But then again, from what I read, it seems like the fancy programming features could be part of the flaws behind some of the other models. We have not tried cooking with the probe yet, but otherwise we are very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.
